The Aleutians are a chain of islands in the north Pacific Ocean, bordering the Bering Sea, west of the Alaskan peninsula.
These remote and beautiful islands are also infamous for their unpredictable and stormy weather.
Home of the indigenous Aleut people, they were once controlled by the Russian empire with the rest of Alaska. Alaska and the Aleutians were then sold to the US in what at the time was considered to be a terrible investment.
